Frustrated drivers have taken to social media to criticise the new fuel after its introduction at the start of September. The fuel, which is said to be more environmentally friendly, became the new standard for unleaded petrol.

Despite this, many criticised its integration from the offset because of its lower fuel content.

A driver on Twitter, Trev Churchill, slammed the fuel, saying: “E10 fuel is cr*p.

“Just cost three quarters of tank from Birmingham to Blackpool and back. (sic)

“Before E10 would cost me half a tank round trip.

“Again we’re being ripped off.”

When the fuel was launched, the Government said E10 petrol can marginally impact fuel economy.
