Seventy-year-old Peter Swift said potholes had “damaged tyres” and destroyed his car’s shock absorbers. Mr Swift is just one of several residents living down St Aidan’s Street in Tunstall to complain about potholes in the road.

The residents are demanding more council action in a bid to repair the massive damage.

He said: “It is disgusting.

“I have lived here for 20 years and the road has never been as bad as this.

“They throw something in the potholes and within three weeks it churns it all up again.
