GT Sport Daily Races: Hooning Hondas

There’s a theme running through this week’s GT Sport Daily Races, as you’ll be racing for a single brand in two of the events — and you can choose to do so in the third one too. Grab your Hondas and head to the track.

Race A puts you in a choice of one of two Honda Type Rs, provided for the race. You can pick either the Civic Type R or the Integra Type R, both from 1998, for a four-lap race around the Red Bull Ring. As it’s a grid start this week, you’ll need to manage the traction on the front-wheel drive cars, but you’ll be helped out by the Sport Medium tires.

The long-distance Race C is also a Honda event, but very much at the upper end of the speed scale. You’ll be taking a Honda-powered Super Formula SF19 chassis for an 11-lap race around Suzuka. There’s a few special considerations this week though, not least of which is making sure you have an Overtake button mapped for the car’s boost function.

These complications start at, well, the start. It’s a grid start, with the false start check function enabled. This means that you can set off any time from when the last red light appears, but if you do so before all the lights go out to signal the race start you’ll face an instant reduction in engine power and watch helplessly as everyone streams past.

There’s also a mandatory tire requirement for this race again. You must use both the Racing Medium and the Racing Soft tire during the course of the race, or you’ll end up having a minute added to your final race time as a penalty. The 8x tire wear multiplier should be plenty of a reminder that you need to make a pit stop in any case.

For the final race this week, in Race B, you can choose your own car from anything available to you in Gr.3 — and there is a Honda NSX if you’re brave and want to stay on-brand. It’s a simple enough, four-lap race on the Yamagiwa layout of the fictional Kyoto Driving Park circuit.

These three races will run through to Monday, February 15, when another new set of three will replace them.
