New MINI Electric Draws Over 40,000 Customers To Register Interest
Thousands of customers are waiting on the first series-production all-electric MINI, which will enter production in November.
The recently revealed electric MINI Cooper SE already attracted a lot of attention and BMW Group in one of helatest sales reports said that over 40,000 customers registered interest in the MINI Electric.
“Building on that success was the announcement at yesterday’s first showing of the MINI ELECTRIC* that over 40,000 customers have already registered interest in the car”
Those are not orders, but still it’s rather likely that the MINI Electric will be another production constrained model on the market.
The production in Oxford will begin in November 2019 with first deliveries expected from Q1 2020. As the MINI Electric is based on the conventionally powered MINI 3-door, it will be produced along with ICE version.
At first, the MINI Electric is available in: Germany, UK, France, Netherlands, Sweden and Norway
The 135 kW electric motor in the MINI Electric seems to be borrowed from the BMW i3S, although the 32.6 kWh battery possibly is different (reportedly CATL cells instead of Samsung SDI).
