Road safety: These are the safest cars of 2019 according to Euro NCAP car safety ratings
Included in the list is the record-breaking Mazda CX-30 which has become the first car to achieve a 99 percent score in Euro NCAP’s Adult Occupation protection tests. Cars are judged based on their standard crash avoidance technology and driving assist systems which can reduce the risk of having a collision.

Affordability of the vehicles was also taken into account to promote cars bringing safety to the masses to generate a large road safety impact.
Matthew Avery, director of research at Thatcham Research said: “Carmakers have really raised their game this year; drivers have never been safer behind the wheel. Should the worst happen, motorists are incredibly well protected.
“But crucially, these cars have an abundance of standard-fit safety systems designed to prevent crashes.”
A winner will be identified from the ten nominees during the WhatCar? Car of the Year Awards in January 2020.
This popular road car scored 100 percent in side-impact tests and a massive 97 percent on the Adult Occupant Protection category in one of the highest scores of the year.
Matthew Avery added: “Strong sales, especially as a fashionable fleet choice mean this car, with its suite of standard-fit crash avoidance technologies, will be a common sight on UK roads.”
Mazda has two vehicles in the top 10 of this year’s results list. Impressive safety protection for impacts and driver monitoring safety features has helped the Mazda 3 to a high Euro NCAP rating.
The record-breaking vehicle is the only one to achieve a massive 99 percent result in the Adult Occupant protection category.
It means the vehicle has even built for full-frontal, side-impact and pole crash safety in mind in a design which puts safety at the forefront.

Mercedes also features two vehicles in the top 10 in another strong year for the Silver Arrows.
Mercedes won the WhatCar? Safety Award with their A-Class last year and will be looking to pick up the top crown in this year’s event.
According to Matthew Avery, the B-Class is typical of the brand’s safety record and offers great attention to detail in a brilliant move for families.
The second Mercedes on the list has a strong 90 percent average across all Euro NCAP categories.
The vehicle features a pop-up bonnet to protect pedestrians and cyclists in the event of a collision and an advanced speed assistance system.

This SUV features lane support system technology and driver assistance to lessen the risk to motorists inside the vehicle.
Mathew Avery has described the Scala as maximum safety on a minimal budget after a strong performance in the Euro NCAP tests.
The vehicle was rated highly on passive and active safety protection.
Thatcham claims the vehicle is one of the safest small new cars on the market this year.
Tesla Model 3
Elon Musk’s luxurious Model 3 achieved the highest overall score on Euro NCAP’s Safety Assist category as well as maximum points across the lane support system tests.
Volkswagen is another manufacturer with two entries in this year’s top-10 list in a superb year for the German firm.
The popular Golf comes with several safety features including electronic lane keeping to aid motorists.
This car scored well in impact testing and has a wide variety of safety technology installed as standard across the vehicle.
The T-Cross’ lane support system helps preset motorists from drifting out of lane and will intervene in critical situations to prevent accidents.
