The popularity of caravans, campervans and motorhomes have all spiked since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Searches for questions like “when will caravan parks open” and “when are caravan sites opening” all jumped more than 4,400 percent since last year.

With millions more staycations set to continue between now and the end of the year, some of the best leisure vehicles have been compared to give drivers the best option.

According to Gumtree, the Adria Altea 622DK Avon is the best caravan for a staycation.

The six-berth caravan has just under 50 square metres of space and comes in at around £20,495.

The Slovenian company has the largest caravan footprint in this country compared to any other continental manufacturer.

The caravan has also been rated the third best for hosting capabilities with its state-of-the-art cooking facilities and suitable bathroom facilities for its six guests.

The largest caravan in terms of vehicle volume is the Compass Casita 868, with 52.07 square metres of space.

The six-birth ranked in second place for the best caravan for a staycation, coming in at a higher price than the Adria, at £24,919.

It was, however, ranked as the best caravan for hosting capabilities.

The Mercedes can travel a massive 725.25 miles, allowing drivers to complete the North Coast 500 and still have enough fuel to travel from Inverness to Edinburgh with fuel to spare.

The Mercedes has the cheapest cost of a full tank by £2.50 and can travel more than 50 miles further than the second place Hymer Van 374.
