Malaysia vehicle sales data for April 2019 by brand

The month of April 2019 saw a drop in vehicle sales by 4,812 units or 8.78%, with a total of 49,964 vehicles delivered in the month. It’s now time to see how each individual brand performed during said month, and it appears to be a rather mixed bag of results.

Looking at the top five brands in the table, only Proton saw an increase in its sales, with a 14.3% gain from March 2019. On the other hand, the remaining four brands in the upper segment of the sales chart registered declines, including Perodua (-4.9%), Honda (-28.8%), Toyota (-7.4%) and Nissan (-21.6%).

Further down the chart, Mazda went against the downward trend to increase its sales for the month by 28.9%. Below the sixth place mark, brands like Volkswagen (-37.5%), Ford (-17.6%), Kia (-22%) and Renault (-89%) saw a reduction in sales, although Peugeot gained 32.8%.

In the premium segment, sales of Mercedes-Benz vehicles dipped by 28.6%, and the brand is joined by the likes of BMW (-17.6%), Lexus (-50.9%), MINI (-18.2%). Volvo had better fortunes with an improvement of 14.8% from the month prior.
