OFFICIAL: 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 starts at $73,995
The top rung of Ford’s Mustang ladder finally has a price: $73,995. That’s not cheap, but that’s not a bad deal when you consider the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500’s finally official 760 hp figure. The supercharged 5.2-liter V8-powered Mustang will feed power to the rear wheels by way of a standard seven-speed DCT. There isn’t a manual transmission option, but there will be other ways to hike the price over six figures.
According to a leaked pricing sheet, the Shelby GT500 has a whole array of pricey add-ons like an $18,500 carbon-fiber track pack and $10,000 painted-on racing stripes. Those two options alone tack on another $28.5K to the Shelby’s sticker and brings it up to $102,495 — far from cheap.
Of course, you don’t need the carbon-fiber track pack or the painted racing stripes — unless, of course, you’re banking on this becoming a collector’s item down the line. At its base price, the GT500 offers a lot of car for the money.
These are reportedly going on sale in the fall, but you might want to work with your local Ford dealer sooner than later to get your order figured out ahead of time.
