Daniil Kvyat walks away from big British GP smash | Planet F1

AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat crashed out of the British Grand Prix in a spectacular incident at Maggots on lap 13.

The Russian’s car smashed into the barriers at Silverstone and while he initially sat motionless in the badly damaged car, he was fortunately seen walking away seemingly uninjured.

Kvyat was racing in clear air at the time and Martin Brundle, co-commentating on Sky Sports, suspected a right front puncture had launched the AlphaTauri into a spin before it speared into the armco.

The former Red Bull driver nevertheless apologised to his team over the radio and demonstrated his unhappiness by pushing away a TV camera as he left the scene of the accident.

The crash brought the Safety Car out for the second time following an earlier incident in which Kevin Magnussen’s Haas tangled with Alex Albon’s Red Bull, with the Dane becoming the second driver out of contention after Nico Hulkenberg was unable to take the start in his Racing Point when the power unit could not be fired up.
