Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race at Michigan postponed until Monday
Cars took to the Michigan International Speedway for parade laps before they were parked for the day on Sunday in Brooklyn, Michigan.
A stubborn drizzle and off-and-on light rain was enough to push back the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
The race, originally slated for Sunday, is scheduled for 5 p.m. EST on Monday. The race will be televised on FS1.
Ford dominated qualifying with eight of the top-10 qualifiers, including pole sitter Joey Logano and fellow front-row qualifier Aric Almirola.
This marks the second consecutive year that the rain played a role in the June race at MIS. Last year, Clint Bowyer scored a rain-shortened win in a race that was called after 133 of the scheduled 200 laps.
