Zak Brown critical of Wembley security after Lando Norris mugging
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has criticised Wembley’s execution of the Euro 2020 final after his driver Lando Norris was mugged.
As he returned to his car after the match featuring England and Italy, Norris was attacked by two individuals, during which his prototype Richard Mille watch worth £40,000 was stolen.
Fortunately Norris was not hurt during the incident, but was understandably shaken.
Norris himself has taken to social media to express his gratitude for the support he has received, and is now trying to refocus his mind with the British Grand Prix approaching.
Brown confirmed that Norris is okay, adding that they have spoken at length about the incident, and Brown described the Euro 2020 final at Wembley as “not a well-executed event”.
“[I’ve] spoke with him about it a lot,” Brown told Sky Sports News.
“I’ve been mugged three times actually, in Los Angeles when I was younger, so I shared my story. It’s easy to feel responsible when you’re the victim, if that makes sense, you’ve got a nice watch on. The reality is he did everything he was supposed to do.
“Got some bad people in the world. That was not a well-executed event, I went, and that just wasn’t acceptable behaviour.
“So that’s going to need to be fixed because you shouldn’t ever feel in danger going to a big sporting event, you’d never see that in Formula 1.
“But he’s OK. A bit traumatised as you’d expect, he’s explained it to me, it wasn’t a very nice experience, but he’s healthy and he’ll be fine.”

Norris has been one of the standout performers this season, scoring points at every round, the only driver to do so.
Included in that run of form are three podiums following P3s at the Emilia Romagna, Monaco and Austrian GPs.
With 101 points scored so far in 2021, Norris has already set his highest total for a season in his Formula 1 career, and will be looking to add further to that impressive tally at his home race, the British Grand Prix.
