Here\u2019s What a Year Outside Does To Your Wipers
Wiper blades are one of the most important parts of your car that you consistently forget about—until you need them. Tucked low on your car’s windshield and nearly out of sight, they’re constantly exposed to the elements and the sun’s harsh ultraviolet light. The question is: How much does a year of sitting in the elements affect your wiper blades?
Well, now we know—at least, we know how a year affects the samples carried over from Project Farm’s original test from last year. The video above shows how much the various blades have degraded over the past year, how effective they are at removing water and how much noise they make now that they’re a year older.
The video follows the same testing protocols as last year, which means that they’re placed on a car, showered with a garden hose and observed. This video also takes it a step further: Project Farm also makes an artificial rainstorm to test these wiper blades at speed.
How do the wipers do? Are the more expensive options better than the budget options? No spoilers here: Find out in the video above. If you need to swap some new wipers on your commuter ahead of winter, check out these deals here.
