Mahindra has registered several trademarks that could be used for the upcoming Thar 5-door.

According to the government website, Mahindra has filed applications for 7 nametags. These include Thar Armada, Thar Centurion, Thar Cult, Thar Gladius, Thar Rex, Thar Roxx and Thar Savannah.

It will be interesting to see if Mahindra revives the Armada name for the Thar 5-door. As you may be aware, the Armada was launched in 1993 and went out of production in 2001. It was offered as a 5-door SUV and a double-cab pickup.

The Thar 5-door has a similar design concept to the Armada. It is a rugged 5-door SUV with a long bonnet and wide front fenders.

The Thar 5-door will be offered with the same engine options as the 3-door version. These include a 2.2-litre diesel producing 130 BHP and 300 Nm and a 2.0-litre petrol that makes 150 BHP and 300-320 Nm. Both engines are likely to be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
