‘I’m a car dealer – this hidden compartment can protect valuables from thieves’

A motoring expert has revealed an interesting hidden storage space on a new model that can help to protect valuables from thieves.

Don Valley North Hyundai is a car dealer in Ontario, Canada, which regularly posts videos to their Instagram page to show viewers interesting features on their range of models.

In a recent video, a salesperson at the Hyundai dealership demonstrated the wide number of out of sight storage compartments that can be found on the Santa Cruz, a pickup truck not sold in the UK, however, can also be found on the popular Tucson SUV.

He explained: “Did you know about all of the compartments in the new 2024 Santa Cruz? Let me show you. So here, under the seat, you pull this tab, flip it up and you’ve got a compartment right here that goes all the way to the other side.

“And here on the other side it’s the same thing, just pull the tab, lift it up. And here you have your tyre jack and stuff for your spare tyre, but you can also take this out and you get a whole storage compartment from side to side.”

In the video, the dealer demonstrates a large hidden compartment found underneath the rear seat of the Hyundai Santa Cruz.

To access it, drivers simply need to pull the tabs found at the bottom of the seats and then flip their bases up.

The salesperson noted that this is where the vehicle’s tyre repair kit is found, however the additional space can be used to hide expensive items such as sat nav systems and phones when the car is unattended.

Later in the video, the salesperson demonstrated three other storage compartments found at the bed of the truck, including one which features a plug socket.

He continued: “Round here in the bed we also have that hidden storage, just click this button up here, lift it up and you get an ample amount of storage right there.

“So, also on the left side of the bed we have an extra storage compartment here that you just drop down and you’ve got ample space here for anything you need to put in. And also on the other side, here, the same thing. Just twist these buttons down, fold it down for the same exact storage, but you also get an outlet as well.”
